This exposition shows the diversity and beauty of the northern nature. Here you can get to know the peculiarities of all the natural zones where the Arkhangelsk region is located — the taiga, forest-tundra, tundra and the Arctic desert zones. The section “Inland waters” features such interesting local spices of fish as omul, bull-trout, sterlet, pike and others. The unique “Inner waters” exhibit is the mother-of-pearl shell listed in the Red Book as the endangered spices.
The variety of animals of the Arkhangelsk region is represented here with the stuffed wild animals: a bear, boar, moose, fox, wolf, reindeer and others.
Special attention is paid to the local birds — here you can find the rare bird spices enlisted both to the Red Book of Russia and of the Arkhangelsk region: a white-tailed eagle, osprey, golden eagle, great grey owl, common crane.
The “Arctic inhabitants” podium introduces the uniqueness of the Novaya Zemlya and Franz Josef Land archipelagos. Among the Arctic mammals here are polar bears, walruses, ringed seals and bearded seals. A separate stand is devoted to the invertebrates of the White Sea — starfish, sponge and crab.
